Three delighted members of staff at Bex were flown out to Berlin last week to attend FESPA along with Managing Director, Ian Board, as a reward for winning a company-wide competition.
Last month, all the staff at Bex had been asked to submit ideas on how to improve the business. The winning suggestions would earn one member of staff an all-expenses-paid trip to Berlin to accompany Ian on his visit to FESPA. FESPA is Europe’s largest global print expo for the wide-format print industry and takes place every year at the Messe Berlin.
Impressed with the response to the competition, Ian Board reviewed all the suggestions carefully and finally selected not just 1 but 3 winners! Klare Dean, Jason Doel and Pete Weinling were all chosen for their enthusiastic and well thought out responses.
Klare Dean works in SOP (Sales Order Processing) and her ideas revolved around: giving staff “a day in the life of” another member of staff in order to give everyone an understanding and appreciation of other peoples’ roles; an increased online presence for the company, celebrating employees’ achievements both in and out of work; various promotions for customers.
Jason Doel works in Screen Tech & Print and his ideas were mainly focussed on improving the workflow through the factory and improving the efficiency and visual appearance of certain areas. His ideas also included ventilation & heating and health & safety improvements which are always priorities for Bex.
Pete Weinling works across Screen & Digital Print and took the time to explain in great detail the factory workflow from his perspective and how Bex would benefit if the print staff were to work across different areas of the factory, each sharing their skills, ideas and generally improving communication and productivity.
The winners all flew out with both Ian and Mel Conway (Quality Management Representative at Bex) from London to Berlin last Wednesday and returned on Thursday afternoon. Whilst there, they were wowed by exhibitors showing the future of digital & screen printing and experienced a dedicated demonstration on the Zund stand. They also enjoyed the sights and sounds of a thriving Berlin with a meal together in the evening.
Well done team!
